Kindness Is A Weapon

Allow me to remind you of a time, 

Where worldly riches & greed for power were at their prime,

A young boy, the royal prince, to be known as Buddha, 

Hidden from the world, given the best by his father, the only agenda. 

Inquisitive nature, what is behind that palace wall?

Can I be someone’s wonder wall? 

Escaped from the cage, out into the world,

Shocked to see the surrounding adversities, his mind swirled. 

He gave up his riches, blessing the poor, 

Kindness is a virtue, proven to be a savior. 

God bless this man, who holds no greed, 

A weapon so mighty; for those in need. 

Let us remember a time in 2006 when the skies poured out a deluge, 

Causing mayhem in the hustle-bustle of the city, everyone running around for refuge. 

Our work-men, our civic authorities, giving up their safety, 

Kindness is a weapon; used so bravely. 

Trigger warnings and atrocities on women 

A deafening silence, cry for help but no one to listen. 

“Woman-entrepreneur” Oh! She is way too forward, 

The weapon of kindness losing its’ meaning; why is she cornered? 

Men are accustomed to being the strength & breadwinners, 

Have we equated them with machines, making us sinners? 

Lend an ear, allow them to cry on your shoulder, 

In need of the weapon of kindness, fighting the economic war is our soldier. 

Many go through heartbreak, emotions making you a wrecking ball, 

It is your fight, losing faith, tears streaming down like a waterfall. 

It is time you use the secret potion for your wellness, 

Share a hug and believe in the weapon of kindness. 

A pandemic engulfing us with its’ powerful claws, 

A catastrophe everywhere you look, causing all to withdraw. 

But what about those who are in pain? Can we do them a favour? 

The weapon of kindness and staying indoors, let us all sign this waiver. 

It is a harsh world we are living in, where virtues have lost their meaning, 

The magic of gratitude and the power of words; considered demeaning. 

Stop for a while, catch and breath and look around you 

Kindness is a weapon, a shield protecting you.
